Geotech Gauged Submersible Pressure Transducer
A vented submersible pressure transducer for continuous liquid level measurement and pump control. Because the cable carries a vent tube open to atmosphere, the sensor reads gauge pressure — barometric change is cancelled at the sensor, so you get true depth of water without post-processing against a barologger.
All wetted parts are 316 stainless steel on a 0.72" (1.8 cm) body, so it drops into a 1" well alongside a pump or a water level meter. Every unit is 100% computer tested and calibrated before it ships.
Choose your configuration — 3 steps
- Output. 4–20 mA is the workhorse for pump controllers, PLCs and dataloggers with a current input. Modbus RS485 + Temperature adds a temperature channel and digital addressing — the right pick for telemetry and multi-sensor strings.
- Pressure range. 0–3 through 0–150 PSIG. Roughly, 1 PSI ≈ 2.31 ft of water, so 0–15 PSIG covers about 35 ft of submergence and 0–150 PSIG about 346 ft. Size the range to your expected submergence, not to well depth — an oversized range costs you resolution.
- Cable length. 25 to 500 ft in 25 ft increments, and the price you see includes it. Vented polyurethane cable is fitted automatically — four 24 AWG conductors plus drain wire and nylon vent tube — so it always matches this sensor. Measure from the sensor to your termination point and add slack for the wellhead and enclosure; running short is the most common ordering mistake. Choose No cable if you already have a run, or need a length beyond 500 ft.
Gauged or absolute?
- Gauged (this transducer) — vented cable, barometrically compensated at the sensor. Simpler data, but the vent needs moisture protection.
- Absolute — sealed, no vent to maintain, ranges to 0–1500 PSIA. You compensate for barometric pressure in software.
Every gauged order needs these — please specify
- Vent moisture protection — a field-replaceable desiccant cartridge, a maintenance-free aneroid bellows, or a vented junction box with either. Moisture reaching the vent will destroy the sensor: declining protection voids the transducer and cable warranty.
- A cable spool for any run over 150 ft. Small to 350 ft, medium to 800 ft, large to 2500 ft.
- Calibration — 0.25% of full scale is standard and included; 0.1% is available as an upgrade.
- Surge suppression (recommended) — downwell or upwell, matched to your output type. Worth it anywhere with lightning exposure.
All of the above are in Geotech Pressure Transducer Parts & Accessories. Cable is included in your configuration above — the standalone cable listing covers replacements and custom lengths.
