Solinst Barologger 6
The Solinst Barologger 6 is the barometric reference logger for the Levelogger 6 Series. It shares the same 22 mm x 160 mm (7/8" x 6.3") 316L stainless steel body, 10-year lithium battery and optical communication port as the Levelogger 6, but it is deployed above high water level rather than submerged, and its firmware uses pressure algorithms written for air instead of water. That gives it a barometric accuracy of ± 0.05 kPa and a temperature-compensated range of -10°C to +50°C. Supplied as Model 3001 Barologger 6, M1.5 (Solinst part 117671).
Absolute-pressure dataloggers such as the Levelogger 6, Levelogger 6 Junior and Levelogger 6 LTC record water pressure plus atmospheric pressure, so their files have to be corrected before they represent true water level. A single Barologger 6 set at one location on site does that for every absolute logger within roughly a 20 mile (30 km) radius and every 1,000 ft (300 m) of elevation change — the Data Wizard in Levelogger Software pairs the synchronized files and compensates them in a batch, in the same units as the submerged file. The recorded barometric record is also useful in its own right for working out barometric lag and barometric efficiency in the monitored aquifer.
The Barologger 6 is backwards compatible: Levelogger Software recognises the logger type and will compensate Levelogger 6, Levelogger 5, Levelogger Edge and Levelogger Junior data files, so an existing mixed-generation network does not need replacing to use it. Readings are logged in psi, kPa or mbar with temperature in °C or °F, into a 150,000-reading memory backed by a separate dedicated store for the most recent 20,000 readings. It reads out with a Desktop or Field Reader, the Mk3 USB-C PC Interface Cable at 19.2k baud, a Solinst Readout Unit, a DataGrabber, or over Bluetooth® via the Levelogger App Interface, and works with SDI-12 and MODBUS networks and Solinst telemetry.
Do you have everything you need? A Barologger 6 is normally deployed alongside one or more Levelogger 6, Levelogger 6 Junior or Levelogger 6 LTC dataloggers. Well cap assemblies, direct read cables and readers are listed under Solinst Levelogger 6 Series Parts & Accessories. If you would rather avoid barometric compensation altogether, the vented LevelVent 6 corrects itself in real time.
