Solinst 9200 RRL5 Radio Telemetry Assembly
The Solinst 9200 RRL 5 is a self-contained radio telemetry unit sized to fit inside a standard 2" well casing. It connects to one Levelogger-series datalogger (or two via an optional splitter cable) through a reader cable, pulling readings at a set sampling interval and storing them in its own memory. At a separate reporting interval, it transmits the data by short-range, unlicensed-band radio to a "Home Station" — another RRL 5 unit connected by USB to a PC — with any unit configurable as either a Home Station or Remote Station, so multiple remote units can relay to one home station. Data lands in Solinst's free Telemetry Software, exportable to .xle or .csv.
Why choose radio over cellular: the RRL 5 has no recurring data fees and no SIM card, because it doesn't use a cellular network. That makes it the economical choice for a cluster of wells within radio range of a base PC — a single site, a landfill, a well field — where a monthly plan per logger would add up. The trade-off is range and the need for a PC-connected Home Station on site, rather than data reaching you anywhere.
Choose your band: 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz. 900 MHz generally penetrates obstructions and vegetation better and reaches further; 2.4 GHz is the lower-cost option for shorter, clearer paths.
Compare the remote monitoring options
- 9200 RRL 5 (this unit) — radio to an on-site PC. No recurring fees. Best for well clusters within radio range.
- 9500 LevelSender — 4G LTE cellular, in-well. Data reaches you anywhere there's coverage; requires a SIM and data plan.
- 9700 SolSat 5 — solar-assisted satellite. For off-grid sites with no cellular coverage at all.
Reader cables, splitters, battery packs, and programming cables are on the Solinst telemetry accessories listing. Pairs with Solinst Levelogger-series pressure transducers.
