RKI RX-8500 Marine Multi-Gas Monitor
The RKI RX-8500 is a portable four gas monitor built for marine tank work. It uses an infrared sensor on the combustible channel, which keeps combustible readings accurate in inert, oxygen-deficient atmospheres where a catalytic sensor cannot be relied on, exactly the condition found inside an inerted cargo tank. Combustible gas is measured across both 0 to 100% LEL and 0 to 100% volume methane, alongside oxygen 0 to 40%, carbon monoxide 0 to 1,000 ppm and carbon dioxide 0 to 20% volume, so a single instrument covers gas freeing, inerting and entry testing. This configuration is calibrated for methane; the companion RX-8700 covers general hydrocarbons on an isobutane conversion. Supplied with a lithium-ion battery pack and charger.
Applications include LNG and crude oil carriers, bulk carriers and chemical tankers, cargo and ballast tank testing, hydrocarbon measurement during gas freeing and tank cleaning, inert gas atmosphere verification, and pre-entry atmospheric screening for confined space work.
Replacement infrared, oxygen and toxic sensors, calibration gas cylinders and regulators, calibration kits, filters, batteries, chargers and carrying cases are all stocked. Browse RKI Instruments Parts & Accessories, or see the full instrument range in RKI Instruments.
