The RKI NC-1000 is a portable sample-draw detector for trace level combustible gas, reading in parts per million rather than percent LEL. It covers 0 to 1,000 ppm and 0 to 10,000 ppm, which suits work where a standard LEL instrument would simply read zero: pinpointing very small leaks, verifying a repair, or surveying for slow seepage. An internal pump draws the sample through a probe for remote measurement. Available calibrated for methane or for isobutane as a general hydrocarbon.

Applications include natural gas distribution and service line leak surveys and pinpointing, post-repair verification, landfill cap and soil gas screening, indoor investigation of suspected slow leaks, and any survey requiring ppm level combustible sensitivity.
