The RKI 04 Series is a pocket-sized personal single gas monitor designed to stay in service for years, with sensors and filters the user can replace in the field. Depending on the model it runs continuously for roughly 3,000 to 9,000 hours on two AAA alkaline cells. Three user-adjustable alarm setpoints are standard and every version signals with visual, audible and vibrating alarms together. Replacement sensors are inexpensive and interchangeable with the GX-3R, GX-3R Pro and GasWatch 3, so a mixed RKI fleet can share spares, and sensors are rated beyond three years of life. The housing carries an IP-67 rating and a moulded rubber boot, and the instruments are certified intrinsically safe to ATEX/IECEx and by QPS to U.S. and Canadian standards for Class I, Division 1, Groups A through D atmospheres.

Applications include personal exposure monitoring and confined space entry in water and wastewater treatment, refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, mining, pharmaceuticals, food processing, utilities, fire services and HazMat response. Configurations cover oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide including an H2-compensated version, a combined CO and O2 model, and toxics such as HCN, NO2, Cl2, NH3, PH3 and SO2.
