Ion Science Tiger XT Select
The Ion Science Tiger XT Select is a handheld gas detector that measures benzene and Total Aromatic Compounds (TACs) in one instrument. Using Ion Science's high-output 10.0 eV detection system, it displays a TAC reading immediately on start-up — no warm-up wait before you know whether aromatics are present. If aromatics are detected, a benzene pre-filter tube attaches to the inlet: the tube absorbs interfering VOCs while allowing benzene to pass, giving a fast, selective benzene measurement down to parts-per-billion levels.
The 10.0 eV lamp is itself a selectivity advantage — many gases commonly found alongside benzene sit above its ionization threshold and simply don't respond, which cuts the interference that broadband 10.6eV instruments have to contend with. Like the rest of the Tiger XT platform, the XT Select uses patented Fence Electrode Technology, is intrinsically safe, and operates one-handed in heavy gloves.
