Horiba LAQUA TB220 Portable Turbidity Meter
The HORIBA LAQUA TB220 is a portable turbidity meter for measuring water clarity in the field or on the bench. It reads suspended particulate as NTU using a nephelometric optical measurement, and is sized to be carried to the sample point rather than requiring samples be transported back to a laboratory.
Turbidity is one of the fastest indicators that something has changed in a water system — a filter breaking through, a main disturbed, sediment mobilized by rainfall, or a treatment process drifting out of specification. Measuring it on site means you find out in minutes rather than after a laboratory turnaround.
Choose your configuration
- TB220-K complete kit (3201073569) — the meter in a carrying case with 4 empty measurement vials, 4 sealed calibration vials (0.02, 20, 100 and 800 NTU), silicone oil, polishing cloth, instruction manual and quick guide. Everything needed to calibrate and measure from day one.
- TB220 meter only (3201068607) — the instrument on its own, for users who already hold calibration standards and vials.
Why the vials and silicone oil matter
Turbidity readings are sensitive to the condition of the glass. Scratches, fingerprints and micro-abrasions scatter light and inflate readings, particularly at low NTU. The supplied silicone oil and cloth are used to fill fine surface imperfections before measurement, and vials should be treated as consumables and replaced when they become worn. Keeping a spare vial set on hand protects the integrity of low-range results.
Applications
- Drinking water treatment and distribution compliance monitoring
- Filter performance and breakthrough checks
- Stormwater and construction site discharge monitoring
- River, lake and stream water quality surveys
- Wastewater effluent clarity verification
- Groundwater sampling — confirming turbidity has stabilized during low-flow purging
- Aquaculture, pool and process water clarity checks
- Dredging and sediment plume monitoring
