Solinst Rainlogger 6

The Solinst Rainlogger 6 is an event-based datalogger, not a pressure sensor. It connects to a standard tipping-bucket rain gauge through a 3-pin connector cable and records and saves each individual tip the moment it happens, along with its time stamp and the total rainfall for the period. It works with most tipping buckets using either a normally-open or normally-closed reed switch output. Housed in a 22 mm x 160 mm (7/8" x 6.3") ABS enclosure weighing just 50 grams, it offers strong electrostatic discharge protection and a typical 10-year battery, so a station can be left largely unattended.

Non-volatile memory holds up to 100,000 time-stamped readings, with a separate dedicated backup store for the most recent 500 readings. Clock accuracy is ± 1 minute per year and the logger operates from -20°C to +80°C. Self-test capability and field firmware upgrades are built in.

The real value of the Rainlogger 6 is what it does to your existing water level data. Because it programs and downloads through the same Levelogger Software as the rest of the Levelogger 6 Series, rainfall files drop straight in beside Levelogger files, letting you correlate precipitation events against changes in groundwater or surface water level without any manual data wrangling. Data can be viewed as a graph or table, downloaded as All Data, Append Data or Partial Download, and exported to other programs.

Communication is optical high-speed — 9600 bps, 57,600 with a USB Desktop or Field Reader, and 19.2k with the Mk3 USB-C PC Interface Cable. It is compatible with all Solinst Levelogger 6 communication and deployment accessories, downloads to a DataGrabber USB transfer device or a smart device via the Solinst Levelogger App, and can be integrated into a Solinst telemetry system or an SDI-12 or MODBUS network.

Note: the tipping-bucket rain gauge itself is not included — the Rainlogger 6 is the logger, supplied complete with its connection cable.

Do you have everything you need? Readers, cables and adaptors shared across the series are listed under Solinst Levelogger 6 Series Parts & Accessories. Pair rainfall data with a Levelogger 6 and a Barologger 6 for a complete site record.
