Ion Science GasClam 2 — In-Situ Continuous Borehole Ground Gas Monitor
The Ion Science GasClam 2 is the original in-situ continuous borehole ground gas monitor — a stainless steel, intrinsically safe instrument that drops into a 2-inch monitoring well and logs ground gas unattended for up to three months on a lithium pack.
It replaces the fundamental weakness of spot monitoring. A handheld reading tells you what the borehole was doing at the moment somebody stood over it; GasClam 2 logs at user-defined intervals continuously, which is what lets you correlate methane and carbon dioxide concentrations against falling barometric pressure — the condition under which ground gas actually migrates, and the condition a monthly site visit is least likely to catch.
Methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen are fitted as standard, with optional PID for VOCs, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, dual H2S/CO and water depth sensors available.
