Horiba OCMA-550 Oil Content Analyzer
The HORIBA OCMA-550 is a benchtop oil content analyzer for samples that have already been extracted. You inject the extracted sample into the supplied cell, set the cell into the instrument, and read the oil concentration directly. It replaces the earlier OCMA-350.
Because extraction happens outside the instrument, the OCMA-550 handles sample types an automatic in-line analyzer cannot: oil residue rinsed off machined components, oil adhering to soil and other solids, and any sample where you control the extraction chemistry yourself. The door opens and closes one-handed so a cell can be loaded without putting anything down.
Measurement uses non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) absorption of the S-316 solvent extract. There is no evaporation step, so light oils such as gasoline and toluene are not driven off during analysis — the error that undermines n-hexane gravimetric methods on volatile hydrocarbons. Results read out directly as concentration with no weighing.

OCMA-550 or OCMA-500?
Choose the OCMA-550 when your samples are extracted externally — residual oil on components, oil in soil and solids, or bespoke extraction procedures. Choose the OCMA-500 for routine oil-in-water testing on liquid samples, where extraction, measurement and draining all run automatically inside the instrument at one button press.

Consumables and running costs
S-316 extraction solvent is the main ongoing consumable. The SR-305 solvent reclaimer recovers spent S-316 for reuse and reduces solvent spend significantly at steady throughput.
