Horiba Dissolved Oxygen Electrode
Replacement dissolved oxygen electrodes for HORIBA meters, in laboratory and field configurations. These are membrane-covered electrochemical DO sensors: oxygen diffuses through a gas-permeable membrane and is reduced at the cathode, producing a current proportional to the oxygen concentration in the sample.

The built-in stirrer is what makes this the right electrode for BOD bottle work. Membrane DO sensors consume oxygen at the membrane face, so a stagnant sample reads progressively lower as a depleted layer builds up. Standard BOD methods therefore require sample movement at the membrane. An integral stirrer guarantees it, in the confined neck of a BOD bottle where an external stirrer will not fit.
Field

- 9552-50D (3200780941) — field DO electrode with 5 m cable.
Choose the cable length for the depth you need to reach. The 2 m version suits buckets, flow cells and shallow surface water; the 5 m version reaches into tanks, aeration basins, manholes and shallow wells. In still water, move the probe steadily through the sample while reading.

Maintenance
Membranes and electrolyte are consumables, not permanent parts. A DO electrode that is slow to respond, will not hold calibration, or reads erratically almost always needs a fresh membrane and electrolyte rather than a new electrode.
