The blade-free liner — fits AMS® PowerProbe samplers, 1.5" OD. ZipLiner is Geotech's own patented soil sampling sleeve: a standard-performance direct-push liner with a factory-scored "Ziptab" running its length. Once the core is out of the tooling, a ZipTool rolls the tab back and splits the liner open — no utility knife, no cut-resistant gloves, no laceration risk.

Manufactured by Universal Plastics, a Geotech Environmental Equipment, Inc. company, from medical-grade virgin PVC extruded in the USA. It loads and drives like any standard AMS liner and offers similar durability — the only thing that changes is how you open it. Covered by U.S. Patent No. 8,459,374.

Why crews switch: opening liners with a blade is one of the most common injury sources in soil sampling. ZipLiner removes the blade from the workflow entirely, which is why it's specified on sites with strict cut-hazard policies.

How to open it: secure the retrieved liner in a holding tray on a stable surface. Pry up about ½" of the Ziptab, capture it in the slotted end of the ZipTool, then spin the tool to roll the tab up its shank and expose the core. Wear gloves and always zip away from the hand holding the liner. Repeat on the opposite side to open the liner fully. A battery-powered drill with adjustable torque is recommended — start slow at the lowest torque setting; in cold weather, if the tab breaks, simply re-start the zip.
