Direct Push Liner for Geoprobe® DT325 Samplers, 2"
Fits Geoprobe® DT325 dual-tube samplers — 2" OD. DT325 is the step up from DT22 when you want a larger-diameter core while still keeping a cased hole open below the water table. If you're running DT325, this is your liner.
An aftermarket replacement liner manufactured by Universal Plastics, a Geotech Environmental Equipment, Inc. company, from rigid clear PVC extruded in the USA. The liner captures a continuous, minimally disturbed core as the sampler is driven and retrieved — stratification is readable through the liner wall on the spot, and the sample reaches the lab intact.
Standard or Core Catcher — which do I need?
This is the most common question on direct push liners, and the answer comes down to one thing: will your soil stay in the liner on the way up?
- Standard — a plain open liner. Nothing obstructs the bore, so you recover the full core diameter and the sample slides out clean. This is the right default for cohesive soils — clays, silts, and damp sands that hold together as a plug and come up on their own.
- Core Catcher — adds a flexible basket at the bottom of the liner. Its fingers spread open as soil pushes in, then close beneath the core once driving stops, holding the sample in place during retrieval. Use it in non-cohesive ground — running sands, gravels, and saturated or loose material below the water table, where an open liner lets the bottom of your core slide back out into the hole. If you're pulling short recovery or losing the bottom of the run, this is the fix.
Rule of thumb: cohesive soil above the water table, Standard is faster and cheaper. Sandy, gravelly, or saturated soil, the Core Catcher pays for itself the first time it saves you a re-drive.
Specifications
- Fits: Geoprobe DT325 dual-tube samplers, 2" OD
- Lengths: 4 ft, 5 ft
- Styles: Standard, Core Catcher
- Material: Rigid clear PVC, extruded in the USA
- Packaging: Sold by the case — 42 liners per case
Best for: continuous or depth-discrete soil sampling in unconsolidated or coarse-grained soils, including work below the water table where a cased hole is needed. Clear PVC suits metals, inorganics, general chemistry, and stratigraphic logging.
In the field: load the liner into the DT325 sampler before driving, advance to depth, then retrieve and cap both ends for transport — or split the liner open on site to log and sub-sample.
