Delta Epsilon Borehole Logger
Delta Epsilon Instruments' portable borehole logging systems, distributed by Geotech, lower a geophysical probe down a well or borehole on a single-conductor cable and record parameters like natural gamma radiation, resistivity, and self-potential continuously with depth. Each system pairs a hand-crank or motorized cable winch with a depth-encoding tripod, a rugged 12VDC-powered control/display unit, and USB/PC logging software (DELogger, LAS-format output) — a portable, truck-free alternative to full logging-truck operations for water-well siting, environmental site characterization, and mineral/uranium exploration.
Choose the model that matches the depth you need to reach:
- 1A-150 — hand-cranked winch with an internal rechargeable 12VDC battery, 150m (492 ft) of 0.103" single-conductor cable. The most portable, most economical system in the line, sized for shallow water-well and exploration logging.
- 3A-300 — motorized, semi-automatic level-wind winch running off a 12–14VDC source (e.g. a vehicle battery), 300m (984 ft) of cable, includes carrying cases. Delta Epsilon's most popular model — a step up for wells too deep to hand-crank.
- 600DL — fully automatic level-wind winch, 600m (1,968 ft) of heavier 0.125" cable, includes carrying cases. The deepest-rated, flagship system in the portable line.
Application: All three models accept the same family of Delta Epsilon slimhole probes (gamma, resistivity, caliper, fluid temperature/conductivity, flowmeter) for groundwater exploration, aquifer/lithology characterization, and geotechnical or mineral-exploration borehole logging — see our Borehole Probes spec sheet for compatible probes.
