AMS Sludge & Sediment Sampler Kits collect relatively undisturbed sludge and sediment cores up to 4' long from impoundments, lagoons, ponds, rivers, lakes, wetlands, and estuaries. A 12" soil-core sampler base plus three extension sections let you build a 12", 24", 36", or 48" sampler, while three 4' stainless extensions deploy it through up to 12' of standing water before reaching the sediment.
A disposable plastic core catcher and a stainless multi-stage flap-valve cap work together to capture saturated material: on the way down, the flap opens so air and water vent through the top cap; once in the sediment, material pushes past the core catcher into the liner; on retrieval, the catcher closes and the flap seals the vent holes, creating suction that holds the sample in place. Pro Series configurations upgrade to larger 1" chrome-moly, safety-orange powder-coated extensions and a heavier-duty 10-lb slide hammer. A dedicated Tank Sludge configuration adapts the same design for sampling the bottom of petroleum tanks.
Applications: lagoon and impoundment sludge profiling, river/lake/wetland sediment sampling, and wastewater or petroleum-tank sludge characterization.
