Ion Science TVOC 2 — Fixed Continuous Total VOC Detector with 4-20 mA Output
The Ion Science TVOC 2 is a fixed photoionization detector for continuous measurement of total volatile organic compounds. Its 4-20 mA output drops straight into a DCS or control system to warn on, or act on, rising VOC levels in the working environment.
The design choice that matters here is diffusive sampling. With no pump drawing contaminated air across the sensor, the TVOC 2 accumulates far less contamination than a pumped system — which directly reduces lamp cleaning and servicing. Where a pumped sample is genuinely needed, a flow adaptor cap converts it.
One instrument covers three ranges: 0–10, 0–100 or 0–1000 ppm, user selectable, so the same unit can be redeployed as an application changes.
Servicing
Replacement sensor and lamp assemblies, sensor caps, seal disks, flow adaptor caps and long-life lamps are stocked in TVOC 2 Spares & Accessories. Calibration gas is listed under Calibration Gas.

- Three ranges in one instrument — 0-10, 0-100 or 0-1000 ppm, user selectable in the field
- Diffusive sampling, no pump — less contamination reaching the sensor, so lamp cleaning and servicing drop
- Built-in humidity resistance — accurate across environmental conditions with no compensation required
- Straight into your control system — 4-20 mA output with selectable 2 mA and 3.5 mA alarm levels
- Calibrate without opening it — accessed by magnetic switch using 100 ppm isobutylene
- Zone 1 or Zone 2 rated — ATEX and IECEx approved, IP65 designed, usable in Zone 2 without safety barriers
- Refineries and petrochemical plant — fixed-point VOC monitoring in process areas
- Manufacturing and processing — solvent monitoring on production lines and in coating booths
- Wastewater treatment — continuous VOC measurement around headworks and treatment stages
- Indoor air quality — permanent monitoring in occupied industrial and commercial buildings
- Solvent recovery systems — verifying capture and recovery performance
- Pulp, paper and pharmaceutical production — process area monitoring where VOCs are a by-product
